Trauma Doesn’t Look the Same for Everyone

For neurodivergent people, trauma can show up differently.

Instead of just “fight or flight,” you might experience:

  • shutdown or going completely blank
  • sensory overwhelm that feels like panic
  • difficulty identifying or explaining what you’re feeling
  • burnout that looks like depression but isn’t exactly the same

When Trauma and Neurodivergence Overlap

If you’re neurodivergent, you may have spent years:

  • masking your reactions
  • pushing through overwhelm
  • or being misunderstood by others

That can create its own kind of chronic stress—even without a single defining event.

We don’t have to force your experiences into a specific label.

Instead, we’ll focus on:

  • what your nervous system is doing
  • what overwhelms or shuts you down
  • and what actually helps you feel more regulated
